August is Agent Orange Awareness month.  Why not read up on Honey Sue and the A/O children?  I am Honey Sue’s stepfather, her birth father served three tours in Vietnam, as a Marine combat Rifleman. The VA recognizes Honey Sue (and about 1000 other children of Vietnmam vets) as having birth defects directly related to their birth father’s exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Like everyone else, Honey Sue and the A/O children have friends and enemies. Their worst enemies are the corporations who manufactured and sold the Agent Orange to our government at obscenely high profits, and who want to keep the whole thing secret. Their NEXT worse enemy is the Republican party in the US House of Representatives, who have for several decades fought against medical care and other compensation for Honey Sue and the other helpless A/O children.  

Our own Republican Congressman, right here in the 8th Congressional Dist of Indiana, is guilty of this. When first elected, Congressman Bucshon sat in our living room and promised to sponsor legislation to help the A/O kids. After two years in office, he has NOT done so.  Congressman Bucshon has though ACTIVELY supported huge farm subsidies payments to rich farmers who own oil wells, and tax breaks for big corporations such as Mitt Romney. But, Congressman Bucshon and other Tea Party members who jointly control the Republican party insist that medical care for the FEWER THAN ONE THOUSAND  A/O children is an extravagant waste of money.
