I was sipping my French Roast this morning and reading the online edition of the Evansville Courier Press,  when this article about racism caught my attention. In fact it did more than catch my attention, it got my countrified, redneck blood to boiling.  To read what it made me think about, click the “read more” botton on the lower right hand side of this post.

The Tea Party hoodlums, who defend the racist behavior of the church in the comments below this article, wear my patience pretty damn thin.  In fact, they have worn it down to less than zero, I believe.  Bullies and bigots, which are in fact closely related members of the same sub human family of critters, are my main complaint in life. Both try to build their own crappy egos up by taking advantage of folks that are in a weaker position than them. They seek to aggrandize themselves by doing evil to anyone who is not like them, and is not able to fight back.  Bigots are simply schoolyard bullies that have expanded their evil business to include more victims.   

The bigots chatter about states rights, freedom of association, separate but equal, some of my best friends …….. yada yada yada…. etc etc etc ad nauseum. But, the plain simple thruth is that they are bullies, seeking a boost to their low status in society by picking on and tormenting even weaker individuals, weaker individuals who are robbed of their power as human beings by societies ignorant prejudices.

Who do bigots (bullies) target? Smaller people, sick people, mentally and physically handicapped people, physically deformed people, immigrants, gays and lesbians, racial minorities, fat people, skinny people, poor people, people who receive welfare and people who have crappy clothes. You NEVER see a bigot (bullie) mount an attack against a rich white person in perfect health with a Harvard education and classy duds, now DO you? It is the very nature of bigots (bullies) to pick on someone who is already being picked on by society at large, and who is already IN a weaker, disadvantaged position in life and society.

And, the plain simple truth is that bigotry and other bullying are harmful to us all. Not  just to their direct victims. Bigotry and bullying harm helpless children, ruin lives, deny people educations, diminsh human potential, destroys souls and rob society of happy, productive members.  

I will not quietly tolerate either bullying or racism. Try me, and see. Bullies and bigots are on the list of people who can kiss my rosy red, enlisted, hillbilly Katootie!
