DISCOURAGED BY TRUMPISM? BE INSPIRED BY AN ANT

My wife, Suzanne, just directed my attention to a NEWS ARTICLE  about a new sort of train in Europe. The train is powered by electricity created from hydrogen generated from the air.  The train’s engine is totally ………

…………………..totally silent, emits only water vapor, and can cruise at 90 MPH.
.
Same technology is now beginning to be used in Britain, South Korea and other democracies, for trains, trucks, construction equipment, and cars. Sadly, our anti science President, Donald J. Trump, has withdrawn all American cooperation with other nations on such clean energy projects. Bad MoJo from an anti science nit wit.
.
It makes me cry for America. And, especially for my home state of Indiana. Because Indiana, along with the old confederate states, takes the lead in resistance to scientific, economic and social progress. Gov Holcomb and his pal Jim “Jimmy Bob” Tomes of state senate and Wadesville militia group fame, have us locked down in the worst part of the 1850’s.
.
If you want to advocate for any progressive reforms of any sort at all, Indiana’s state government is a target rich environment. Pick a topic: race relations, public health, education, workplace safety, workers’ rights, ecology, voters’ rights, medical marijuana, gender and race equality, etc etc etc, Hoosier state government is on the wrong side of history on every single issue, you can name.
.
It’s not the people of Indiana. Hoosiers aren’t bad people or stupid. In fact, Hoosiers are generally smart, hardworking and compassionate. But, like the old confederate states, which we mirror, Indiana has insane Gerrymandering that stifles democracy.  Gerrymandering has been forced on us by crooked GOP elected officials, who take money from corporations as a matter of course.
.
The Gerrymandering has created a one party kleptocracy controlled by the corporations. That’s the problem, corporate money, crooked GOP politicians, one party kleptocracy. Write that down, because the first step to fixing a problem is identifying it, which I just did for you.
.
While I’m crying for Indiana, the entire rest of the world is laughing at us. GOP corruption has made Indiana into a global punchline for jokes about ignorant rednecks. And, that’s another big problem, and I detest it. I am not ignorant, nor are most of the Hoosiers with whom I associate.
.
Indiana’s problems are indeed gigantic, but they’re not insoluble. We can fix this. But, we must vote, explain things to people and keep the faith in restoring democracy. And not get overwhelmed. When folks get overwhelmed, they lose hope. Don’t ever lose hope, always remember the old Hoosier adage, that a tiny little ant can eat a bale of hay, if he does it just one little bite at a time.
