MY OLD GRIFFIN PAL, BACKWATER BOBB, DROPPED BY AND EXPLAINED ABOUT  ……..

………………….   RESISTANCE TO LEARNING.

Backwater Bobb, my buddy from Griffin, IN,  just gave me a cogent tutorial on how to predict the level of resistance to learning, than you may expect from various demographics of human beans.

Bobb explained to me that, when you present new information to an educated, intelligent person, these learned folks are almost always very grateful and happy for the opportunity to gain more knowledge. And, if you happen to be in error, they will politely enlighten you.

Bobb says Education and learning seem to create a hunger to learn more, and the smarter folks are, the more open they are to new facts and info.

On the other hand, when you try to bring new information and learning to poorly educated and not so intelligent people, you get a lot of emotional resistance. The dumber and less educated people are, the more resistance they will put up to learning ANYTHING.

Dullards have brains that are flabby and out of shape, and learning hurts. Plus, they fear it can lead to thinking, which hurts an unused flabby brain even more.

Bobb says, that worst of all for these clueless dolts, is the fear that learning and THINKING will endanger their comfy fact free preconceived ideas. Preconceived ideas, which they have picked up watching TV preachers, pro wrestling and “Reality” TV shows.

Right or wrong, these preconceived superstitions of the dimwits are their north star for navigating a confusing world. And, they will go to any length to protect whatever they already believe.

Bobb says, that talking to the educated is almost always a joy and a learning experience for all involved. But, conversations with dumbbells are boring, and a waste of time and potentially dangerous. Because, dummies usually feel threatened by smarter people and may turn violent at any moment at the drop of an actual fact.

Smart educated people are not threatened by new information. They enjoy using their healthy well exercised brain. And, view new knowledge not as a threat, but as an opportunity.  Bobb says hang out with smart people and avoid dummies like you avoid the plague.
