Of all of the celebrations that take place in New Harmony, my very favorite is the New Harmony Indiana Music Festival  This is a joyous celebration of music with no pretense or folderol. Splendid music to please the ear and tickle the soul of ordinary people.   

Cold in New Harmony, Indiana

Here is a file photo of a snow day in New Harmony, Indiana. It was taken from my front porch during a snow in 2012. This years snow was bigger, deeper, more long lasting and sort of pretty, but it was too damn cold to go outside taking pictures. Today's high in New Harmony is supposed to be in the mid 20's F, but in two more days it is predicted to warm up here, so that it MAY get into the forties F pretty soon. I would like that, I am not a cold weather person, I have noticed,……………………………………………….

Such weather! (Pecans and Persimmons)

Who has ever seen weather so lovely as Sunday, 13 October 2013? It just simply put me in a good mood, in spite of all I know. Our family took a Sunday drive and enjoyed a couple of Sunday walks. We drove from New New Harmony to the Griffin and had breakfast at the good ol' Griffin Depot Diner. Then we made a brief tour of the Griffin Bottoms in Gibson County to observe the secretive fracking activity going on there………….

A Sweet Little Pre-Kunstfest Rain

I have a garden here in New Harmony and another garden about four miles North, as the crow flies, (ACF) in Griffin. The small but sweet little rain with which we were blessed this early morning should pretty much insure the success of my late season crop of Shoe Peg Country Gentleman sweet corn in the Griffin garden. I have a water well here in New Harmony for watering, but the second garden in Griffin is dependent on natures watering. The wonderful, rich sandy soil in the Griffin  garden was dry and powdery when I checked it on Sunday morning. I was worried about the sweet corn and some other late season crops, but this sweet little light rain should pull them through. Being a gardener makes one aware of and sensitive to ones natural surroundings, and that is a good thing.
